Attachment
therapy
Attachment therapy is where we stop asking, what's wrong with me? and start asking, where did I learn this? Together, we explore how your earliest relationships shaped the way you trust, connect, protect yourself, and show up in relationships today. Because sometimes the coping strategies that once helped you survive are now getting in the way of feeling truly connected.
four attachment styles
Attachment patterns are not like a horoscope, so you won't show up the same in every situation or in every relationship. Rather, we are a mixture of patterns based on the experiences we have had in the past and how they feel similar when we are adults. To most, this feels like a moving target.
Secure attachment
"I miss you, but I know you'll call when you said you would."
"I am feeling overwhelmed and I could use some support."
"We had an argument, but we'll work through it."
"I like you and I trust we will figure things out."
Avoidant attachment
"I like you, from over here."
"I'll show you I care with thoughts, not with feelings."
"I don't need any support. I'm fine."
"I care about you deeply, from a comfortable distance."
Anxious attachment
"If they loved me, they would know exactly what I need."
"I like you. Do you like me? Are you sure? Really sure?"
"You haven't responded in three hours. Are we ok?"
"Of course I'll change things about myself. I don't want you to be mad at me!"
Disorganized attachment
"Please don't leave me ....but don't get too close."
"I can't trust you. I can't trust me. I can't trust anyone!"
"Why are you trying to hurt me?"
"I don't feel safe in any relationship."

In other words, it's not about blaming your childhood (don't worry, we will have a little fun doing that), but it's about understanding the patterns you never knew you were carrying around. Even better? We can repattern your attachment patterns and process attachment trauma today. We'll focus on figuring out how past relationships have influences your sense of safety, trust and connection all while creating new emotional experiences that help rewrite old expectations. You will move past survival and develop new strategies to develop a greater sense of security to feel emotionally safe and authentic.
